SE🙌🏽 For the first time in 11 years, Easter is falling on the date that most scholars actually believe Jesus rose from the dead 🤯
✝️ Let’s rewind a bit to the date of Jesus’ Crucifixion - The date isn’t 100%, but many scholars believe that He died on April 3, 33 AD
Here’s why:
🌒 Astronomical Data & Lunar Eclipse: NASA and other astronomical models indicate a partial lunar eclipse occurred on Friday, April 3, 33 AD, which fits the biblical description of the moon appearing red (as mentioned in Acts 2:20)
📖 Biblical Timeline (Friday/Passover): All four Gospels agree Jesus was crucified on a Friday (“Day of Preparation”) before a Sabbath. AD 33 is one of the few years where the 14th of Nisan aligns with a Friday
📚 Historical Context: The reign of Pontius Pilate fits an AD 33 scenario
🪨 Earthquake: the Bible also references an earthquake occurring during the time of Jesus’ death. In 2012, geologists studying sediment layers 25 miles from Jerusalem found evidence of an earthquake dating between 26-36 AD. This works with the 33 AD date as well
And THIS YEAR, we celebrate GOOD FRIDAY - Jesus’ death - on April 3rd, which means that we will be remembering Jesus’ crucifixion on the same day most scholars believe He died
AND.. IT ALSO MEANS…
We will be celebrating the day He rose from the day on the same date they believe He rose from the dead as well !! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
How cool is that!!
🥳 The day they believe Jesus died (the day death was defeated, our sin was covered, and our intimacy with Gods was gained) is also my birthday so I’ve always been super intrigued by the date!
Anyone just find out their birthday (April 3rd) is the day they believe Jesus died?!
