WOHey knitters! 👋 Today I’m sharing an i-cord bind off, a favorite finishing technique that creates a smooth, rounded edge. It’s especially nice for preventing a rolled edge when transitioning directly out of stockinette or lace without ribbing.
Here’s how it goes:
Setup: On the right side, cast on 3 stitches with a backwards loop.
Step 1: Knit 2, slip 1 knitwise with yarn in back.
Step 2: Knit 1 from your live stitches.
Step 3: Lift the slipped stitch up and over the stitch you just worked.
Step 4: Slide those 3 stitches back to your left needle, give the yarn a little tug, and repeat from Step 1.
It takes time, but the edge you get is so neat and your fabric won’t curl.
P.S. We want you to feel confident trying new stuff so we include tutorials like this with all our patterns. 🧶
