Here are 3 places in or around Southern Arizona you need to check out 💧Patagonia Lake at Patagonia Lake State Park is a great spot to go as a family. There’s even a little sandy beach area for playing! @azstateparks 💧Parker Canyon Lake is a little off the beaten path but a beautiful drive through Sonoita. It’s dog friendly. Stop on your way back for some yummy food at @copperbrothelbrewery & fresh beef at @veraearlpremiumbeef 💧Show Low is a weekend getaway a little further than the other two listed. Fun for families and beautiful lakes to explore. Fool Hollow Lake is especially popular and good for camping. Have you been to any of these lakes? if you’re looking for a fun and challenging hike, definitely add this to your list! 📍Picacho Peak via Hunter Trail 🥾2.8 miles out and back 📈2112 ft elevation this fun and challenging hike is located in Picacho Peak State Park, about an hour and a half from Phoenix. it involves cables to help you climb up the steeper sections of the trail. gloves are recommended to help grip the cables but are not required. if you forgot yours, they do have some available for purchase for $3 at the entrance booth. always hike prepared and know your limits being plenty of water, sun protection and proper footwear. don’t forget to enjoy the beauty of the desert and the amazing views! share this with your adventure loving friends! #visitarizona #picachopeak #azstateparks #explorearizona #hikeaztrails

Before you do the Waterfall Trail at Tonto Natural Bridge @azstateparks in Pine, AZ - here’s what to expect. A lot of videos only show the waterfall itself, but if you’re planning to do this trail, it helps to know what the full walk actually looks like. A few things to know before you go: • Waterfall Trail is about 300 feet total • Usually takes 15–20 minutes • Mostly stairs down (and back up) • Ends at the waterfall cave with a short walkway before turning around Park info right now: • Open daily 9 AM–5 PM • Last entry at 4 PM • Trails close at 4 PM • $10 ages 14+ / $5 ages 7–13 / free for 6 and under It’s short, but such a beautiful little part of the park and absolutely worth doing separately while you’re there. Conditions, water flow, and occasional trail closures can change, so definitely check current park updates before you head out and ask the rangers when you arrive what trails look best that day. The rangers are super helpful. And keep your eyes open. I almost always end up seeing wildlife here too! #Arizona #PineArizona #arizonahiking

Have you ever seen the interior of a Saguaro cactus? 🌵 Ranger Kira from @PicachoPeakStatePark shared this cool video, in case you forgot your x-ray vision goggles. 😎 Saguaros have 15-20 woody ribs that help support the immense weight of the columnar cactus. The interior of the cactus is filled with a sponge-like tissue that stores water, a lot of water. A foot of a saguaro can weigh up to 90 lbs and a saguaro at full height can weigh over a ton. This damaged saguaro can be found at the Raven group site at the park. Damage like this can happen to a cactus due to water stress or birds. Having the ribs perfectly exposed like this is neat to see. Remember, saguaros are protected so please do not further damage them. Plus, you don’t want to touch them... they’re pretty pokey. 😉
