One way to pass. I don’t see much of this is Rugby Union. Due to the nature of prescribed plays, play makers have already made there decision before they have caught the ball. (Generally) I think it gives ball players huge potential to select the best option at the line. Keeping your hips square means that you can step in and out, pass long or short and move to kick where you want. A great attacking threat. There is a time and place to drift with the ball, that is an awesome option for drawing defenders in too. But adding this square pass to your locker could be pretty useful to you. In reality, all I’m saying is—it’s really difficult to just change how you throw. Your body is going to adapt over time to find the least path of resistance… the one that doesn’t hurt when you throw. Sure, you can change your timing, your start, or how you sequence things—that can definitely clean up parts of the delivery. But to completely change how your body has moved for years? It’s nearly impossible. Go watch big leaguers throw as kids—most of them look almost the same today. Maybe their posture improved, maybe their timing is cleaner, but how they took the ball out? Pretty similar. You could shorten it up over time, but not overnight. The way your body moves is your signature. That’s what makes you, you. Jim Furyk had one of the weirdest golf swings ever… but he’s one of the best. So stop killing yourself mentally trying to make your mechanics “perfect.” Learn how to play the game better. That’s what separates the guys who get paid millions from the ones overanalyzing every throw. We help guys clean up what matters and actually get better at the game.
