💙 For the second straight season, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge has been named the American League’s Most Valuable Player. Judge beat out Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh and Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez for the award, the BBWAA announced Thursday night.
This is Judge’s second straight MVP and the third of his career (he also won in 2022). He is the 13th player with three MVPs. Only Barry Bonds (seven) and Shohei Ohtani (four), who won this year’s National League MVP, have more. Judge is the fourth Yankee with three MVPs, joining Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio (1939, 1941, 1947), Yogi Berra (1951, 1954-55), and Mickey Mantle (1956-57, 1962).
⚾️ He joins Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers superstar who won National League MVP.
Judge slashed .331/.457/.688 this season and led baseball in batting average by 20 points, on-base percentage by 58 points, and slugging percentage by 66 points. His 53 home runs were second in the AL behind Raleigh’s 60. Judge’s 9.7 WAR was 1.7 wins better than the next best player, per Baseball Reference’s calculations.

According to baseball reference calculation, Molina ranks 15th all time at any position. He ranks second behind Ivan “Pudge Rodriguez in the catchers position.
Molina is currently the active leader in caught stealing percentage (40.3 Percent)
With his final year approaching, their will be no other catcher like Molina.
Maybe he doesn’t get in the Hall of fame on his first ballot, but there is nothing to argue about that he deserves a spot in the hall of fame!

1954 Topps #90 Willie Mays
First off I have to tip my cap to the Topps '54 set. It's such a fun design and there are so many beautiful cards in that set of some of the best to ever do it. Also, lots of teams in different locations like on this one we have the New York Giants which is a fun wrinkle.
Speaking of one the best to ever do it... Willie Mays, if you're bored today just take a glance at that baseball reference page. If a center fielder did this today people's heads would explode. Also, if you think Trout has been snubbed on MVPs take a peak at the 1960 NL MVP race (no disrespect to Dick Groat he had a great season).
Another reason I love this card is because Willie was rock solid and won rookie of the year in 1951, had a shortened season in '52 and then served in the Military in '53 and played no baseball.
Upon returning from military service for the 1954 season he turned into a baseball super hero. Won the MVP and WS that season and went on to have arguably the greatest baseball career ever. To me it's the card that depicts his running leap into greatness (almost a rookie card part 2).
Super happy to add a Willie card to the collection after selling one earlier in June. This one will hung on to for a long time!

El inicio de temporada de Ranger Suárez, luego de sus primeras 5 aperturas, ya es uno de los más brillantes para pitchers venezolanos y en la historia de los Filis de Filadelfia como franquicia... El motor de búsqueda de Baseball Reference permite navegar entre los nombres que ha igualado o superado el zurdo nacido en Pie de Cuesta, que tiene marca de 4-0 y 1.36 de efectividad en esa media decena de presentaciones.. Desde la creación del concepto «carreras limpias», y por lo tanto, desde la creación de la efectividad como forma para medir el dominio de un lanzador, ningún abridor venezolano ha empezado con mejor registro que el larense, quien además es líder absoluto de ese departamento en la Liga Nacional... Ni siquiera el gran Steve Carlton, miembro del Salón de la Fama, empezó una temporada con mejor ERA que Suárez luego de 5 aperturas. Aunque es verdad que Carlton estuvo cerca... El icónico as de los Filis tuvo marca de 4-1 y 1.47 de promedio en 1972, de nuevo 4-1 y 2.03 en 1980 y siguió con lo suyo en 1981, cuando empezó esa campaña con 4-0 y 2.36... El larense, que anda con foja de 4-0, ocupa la octava plaza entre los abridores de Filadelfia con mejor efectividad y al menos 4 victorias en sus primeros 5 cotejos de un campeonato, de acuerdo con Baseball Reference.

Here Aaron notes the differences in swings in relation to different pitches. Being more rotational and utilizing hip action for the inside pitches and trying to hit it out front.
As for the outside pitch, stay closed. Limit hip action, and let the ball travel further.
High pitch requires a straight to level swing.

Just an 👴🏻 wishing pitchers would get back to reading swings...
Yes Data matters.
Yes Location Matters.
Yes Velo Matters.
It all matters.
But being able to land the RIGHT Pitch based on what the hitter is Telling you might matter more than all things
Being able to read a swing, identify a weakness/hole, knowing what in your arsenal best attacks that weakness, then executing that Pitch.
To me... THAT’S the ART of PITCHING.
... And the never ending Chess match that is probably the favorite part of the game for me.
More of this.
Less of posting 1 good Pitch only to look him up on baseball reference and dude has a 60 ERA or 3IP w/1 Million ERA and 5 WHIP.
