For this guest bath, we leaned into that timeless black-and-white palette and layered in vintage-inspired pieces from @signaturehw to bring the space together. The Cierra Console Sink anchors the room, paired with the Marceau Faucet and Bath Accessories in polished nickel, where old-world charm merges with modern luxuries.
Finished with the Claudia Vanity Mirror, the updates are subtle but completely transform how the room feels.

We’re back at the big house, and this time the bathroom is the main event for #wcw (water closet Wednesday)!
Tons of pink tile. Gold swan hardware. An enormous shower. A tub set right in the middle of it all. And, for absolutely no reason other than commitment to the unique vibe, a random phone in the bathroom 🤣

__Love a fun surprise during demo! 🔨
I honestly was so shocked that there was a full layer of tile under the current tile because the existing looked pretty original to the house.
It’s so fun to see design choices from years gone by because it makes you feel more connected to the home.
I do wish the older tile was in better shape because a light blue moment would be so cute. But new penny tile will be going in its place!

VIA warm bath today takes minutes to prepare, but In the 1700s and early 1800s, taking a bath was not simple it was a process managed by servants, which is why it was considered a luxury. Homes had no running water, so servants first had to heat large kettles of water over a fire and then carry heavy buckets upstairs, often making many trips. A single bath could require dozens of buckets to fill a copper tub.
Many aristocratic homes used portable bathtubs that were brought into a private room only when needed, usually placed near a fireplace to keep the space warm. Servants carefully mixed hot and cold water to reach the right temperature, adjusting it several times until it was comfortable.
Small details made the experience feel refined. Towels and robes were often warmed by the fire, and perfumed soaps or scented oils were added to the water. In some households, bath time was treated as a quiet ritual, sometimes accompanied by tea, fruit, or wine placed nearby.
After the bath, servants returned to drain the tub and carry the water away by hand, storing the bath equipment again. Because the entire process required time, labor, and staff, bathing became more than hygiene it became a sign of wealth, comfort, and control over one’s environment.
