The problem we are addressing at Construx is how to house a growing population with limited resources and tight carbon budget. Our solution 1. Digitally fabricate framing systems for homes that use a single source low-carbon material, in our case Advantech OSB. 2. Be material agnostic. As new innovative materials are developed, we are quickly able to adapt. 3. Eliminate job site waste and destructive site work. 4. Utilize existing manufacturing infrastructure. No new equipment is needed to quickly scale this technology, rather we contract existing underutilized manufacturing capacity nationwide. 5. Design buildings that can be assembled by all people. It’s true, that you don’t need to read or write in order to put our precision frames together. One is able to learn and execute with just a few hours of learning and pictures. 6. Build climate resilient and energy efficient structures. Interlocking components that result in superior performance in high wind and seismic locations. Built like a Yeti cooler. 7. The Fellowship is an active collaboration with the @experimentalfoundation and @bauhaus_earth team and supports practice-based, research-oriented experimental projects across diverse geographies and scales. The program aims to expand existing knowledge and expertise towards a more sustainable, circular, and climate-conscious architecture through regenerative material practices. Fellowship projects span 6 to 9 months as open-ended practice implementation. For information about the open call program and how to apply, follow the link in bio.
