LTWhile you’re asleep, preparations for the #CircleLine (#CCL) tunnel works are already underway. 🔨👷♂️
Ahead of works starting from 17 Jan, our teams have been installing corbels during engineering hours to support the steel plates that will be fitted around the tunnel. At the same time, the first batch of these plates is undergoing finishing works locally.
These preparations will help us carry out the tunnel works more efficiently during the closure.

#ICYMI From 17 Jan to 19 Apr, CCL trains 🟠🚇 will run on one platform between Paya Lebar and Mountbatten stations.
Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time. Shuttle trains and buses will be available, and you can also use other MRT lines or bus services.
🚌 Shuttle buses start from Monday, 5 Jan, to help commuters get familiar with alternative routes.

NYCircle Line HARBOR LIGHTS Cruise: Seeing the Beautiful New York City Skyline at Night
Last Monday night, I took the @circlelinenyc Harbor Lights Cruise from Pier 83 in Midtown Manhattan. It was a cold night for a cruise so most of the time, I stayed inside the temperature-controlled indoor deck. But the skyline views from the outdoor deck was spectacular. We had a very knowledgeable tour guide narrated the story of New York City and shared a lot of information about all the sights and landmarks, as well as his personal experiences in the city. The boat includes a full bar serving beer, wine and cocktails plus light snacks.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I recommend it to those visiting New York City.

FTThe LTA recently said that they need to close one tunnel between Mountbatten and Paya Lebar stations to strengthen the tunnel structure.
This will happen in early 2026; tentatively for 3 months. Similar steel plates added to the tunnel in 2023 can be seen near Nicoll Highway station in this video.
But to do so, drastic service changes need to be made. Track layout constraints mean they have to cut service on the rest of the line to facilitate this tunnel closure.
Is there another way? How flexible can they be to preserve service outcomes while performing this critical work?
A shuttle bus will be run for those going to Tai Seng, but those going west are told to use central interchanges like Outram Park; which could make crowding even worse on other lines barely holding themselves together.
Perhaps extra trains to Bartley can be run, reversing in the same way as back in 2009 during CCL Stage 3.
