Cohesion and friction are both forces that influence how materials behave, but they act in very different ways. Cohesion is the force of attraction between similar molecules within the same substance. For example, water molecules stick to each other because of cohesive forces, which is why water forms droplets and has surface tension. Cohesion operates at a molecular level and is responsible for holding a substance together, affecting properties like viscosity, elasticity, and the ability of liquids to resist breaking apart. Friction, on the other hand, is a force that resists motion when two surfaces come into contact and move against each other. It arises due to surface roughness and microscopic interactions between different materials. Friction is essential in everyday life—it allows us to walk without slipping, write with a pen, and stop vehicles using brakes—but it also causes energy loss in the form of heat. Friction and cohesion are fundamental concepts in physics, both involving forces but acting in distinct contexts. Friction occurs when two surfaces are in contact and one tries to move over the other. It arises due to the microscopic roughness of surfaces and the interactions between them. There are two main types of friction: static friction, which prevents an object from starting to move, and kinetic friction, which opposes the movement of an object already in motion. Kohesionspolitik ist das Herzstück 🫀unserer Europapolitik 🇪🇺🏛️.
