EMSurprise crested gecko baby! An enclosure was accidentally left open overnight and this baby was found wandering the reptile room. It was startled by the movement of the humans and the sound of the vacuum, so it dropped its tail - a natural defense mechanism for crested geckos. Their tails do not grow back, and the wound quickly pinches shut, heals over, and doesn’t hurt or hinder the gecko.

My heart sank as I saw Haku ready his body for a jump. I should have been closer to him, but unfortunately, I wasn’t fast enough to catch him.
