JIShow me how you run down your lobs and I’ll tell you your exact DUPR! How to: “Scoop Lob Retrieval”:
Step 1: Drink @reignstorm before you play—this drill was only made possible by my morning 100mg of clean Reign Storm energy (I drink half a can before I step on the court)!
Step 2: Remember that you have more time than you think! 99.9% of people panic and hit the lob run-down too soon. But you want to make contact almost as the ball is double-bouncing.
Step 3: As you make contact, (and here’s where it gets confusing) you’ll want to feel opposing forces: your back to the net at contact but your weight moving forward (to the net).
Why should you do this drill (other than the massive workout/leg burn)? To learn hold. Wait. Lag. Dwell. Lots of words to say the same thing: You have more time in pickleball than you think.
When you learn to wait all of a sudden you can hit ATPs. You can run down lobs. You have options open to you that weren’t there before. When people ask me to describe pickleball there are 2 definitions I use:
“It’s a game where you try and hit your opponent while they’re moving”
&/OR
“It’s a game where you wait as long as you can to hit the ball”
When you unlock those two concepts you unlock the whole game.

SEI was rated 2.20 after losing all 5 of my beginners round robin matches and It took me 2-3 months to get to 3.0 DUPR guys so don't make the same mistake I did 😭😭
