The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has announced a sharp increase in fuel prices for the April 15 to May 14, 2026 pricing cycle, marking one of the steepest monthly adjustments in recent years amid the ongoing global oil shock linked to the Iran conflict. Under the new review, Super Petrol has increased by KSh 28.69 per litre to retail at KSh 206.97, while Diesel has recorded a larger jump of KSh 40.30 per litre to KSh 206.84. Kerosene prices remain unchanged. Petrol in Kenya attracts 8 different taxes and levies, in addition to transport costs, storage, and oil marketers’ margins. In total, over Ksh80 from every litre goes to taxes alone.
