Yes (during the workout…) When you train fasted (low insulin), your body uses more fat than carbs for fuel When you train fed (after eating), it uses more carbs But here’s the catch: Burning fat ≠ Losing fat Your body balances that out over 24 hours If you burn more fat during the workout, you’ll burn less later If you burn more carbs during the workout, you’ll burn more fat later So by the end of the day, total body fat burned is about the same The real driver of fat loss is whether those calories you burn push you into a calorie deficit, not whether you trained fasted or fed Bonus tip: Working out fasted too long increases muscle breakdown (not good) If it’s been several hours since you’ve eaten, grab a small snack first And if you can’t stomach food, 1–3g of HMB can help offset that muscle loss Studies/Research: PMID: 27609363 PMID: 15896087

🍠It all started w/ one fourth month old sweet potato hiding in our pantry… Back in February, I decided to pluck the sprouts growing off of it and propagate them in water. After about a week of allowing a solid root system to form, I popped them in our garden bed to see what would happen… We ended up with about 40 sweet potatoes! 😳🤯 It generally takes sweet potatoes about 4-5 months to be ready to harvest after planting…if you’re not sure if they’re ready just dig around a bit and see what you find! The key after harvesting is to allow your sweet potatoes to sit in a humid, warm environment to allow them to “cure.” This is when the starches convert to sugar, to make them sweet! Sweet potatoes are definitely a staple around here, so we will be loving these for days to come! They should keep well in a cool dark pantry for a few months if need be (but they won’t last that long around here)!👌 If I can do it, anyone can do it! Protein is amazing but so is a well nutrient dense palette so eat your greens! 3. Compounds are great for core strength but you need to target your core stability specifically to make it even more stronger 4. Please warm up you older self will thank you! 5. The aim of the game is to show up and give it what you can… you only fail if you stop! So don’t stop. 🤍

This Rainbow Root Veggie Stew from Dusty (@DBStanczyk) & Erin (@ErinStanczyk) of @eatmoverest is packed with color and flavor, thanks to the variety of vegetables. It’s a delicious way to eat your phytonutrients! The stew tastes even better on the second day, after the flavors have developed further, so consider preparing it ahead of when you plan to serve. Add any salt-free seasonings of your choosing. Curry powder is a delicious addition. INGREDIENTS 1 large yellow or sweet onion, diced 2 garlic cloves, minced 3-4 medium sweet potatoes, cubed (about 6 cups) 3 cups cubed beets 4 large carrots, thinly sliced 4 celery stalks, thinly sliced 1 bunch green curly kale, torn 1 cup dry red lentils, rinsed 4 cups water or no-salt vegetable broth Black pepper, to taste Nutritional yeast, to taste (optional)  METHOD Chop and wash all of the vegetables, onion through kale. Rinse the lentils. Place all of the ingredients into an electric pressure cooker, a stovetop pot, or a slow cooker. Pour in the water or vegetable broth. Give the ingredients a quick stir and make sure the lentils are entirely submerged. Cooking Times:  Pressure cooker: Cover with the lid and turn the vent to the sealed position. Pressure cook for 25 minutes, then turn the valve to the vent position, release all of the pressure, and remove the lid. Stovetop pot: Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer, stirring often, until all of the ingredients are soft and cooked through. Once the stew is ready to enjoy, add black pepper to taste and serve it topped with a sprinkle of nutritional yeast. Serves 4.
