ROEruption was never supposed to be a song. Eddie Van Halen originally used it as a warm-up exercise before shows and recording sessions. During the recording of Van Halen in 1977, producer Ted Templeman and engineer Donn Landee heard him playing it in the studio and decided to record it. This live version was performed on August 27, 1986 at the New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Connecticut during the 1986 tour for 5150. By then, Eddie had already become one of the most influential guitarists in the world, and “Eruption” had become the moment every fan waited for in a Van Halen show. The final version on the album was basically an accident. Eddie later admitted he did not even think he played it perfectly and said, “Whenever I hear it, I always think, man, I could’ve played it better.”
Despite being only 1 minute and 42 seconds long, “Eruption” completely changed guitar playing forever. It introduced millions of people to two-handed tapping, dive bombs and a style of lead guitar that influenced everyone from Steve Vai and Dimebag Darrell to John Frusciante.
Almost 50 years later, it still sounds like the future of guitar work.

Le 13 février 2026, après une intense crise sismique détectée par les instruments de surveillance, une fissure s’est ouverte sur le flanc du Piton de la Fournaise, laissant jaillir des fontaines de lave et donnant naissance à plusieurs coulées à l’intérieur de l’Enclos Fouqué.
L’éruption, rapide et spectaculaire, est restée confinée dans cette zone inhabitée, sans menace pour les habitations, tandis que les autorités ont immédiatement fermé l’accès au public.
⚠️ Même si le spectacle est impressionnant, l’accès à l’Enclos est strictement interdit. Respectez les consignes officielles et ne vous approchez jamais des zones fermées : les gaz, les projections et l’évolution des coulées peuvent être imprévisibles et dangereux.
