BLCar builder Joshua Opheim recently took a full-spec Formula Mazda race car for a daring test drive on city streets 🏎️💨
This open wheel machine is actually a Formula Mazda spec racer powered by a screaming rotary engine instead of being the expensive Formula 1 vehicle it resembles.
He decided to test the limits of street legal regulations by taking this dedicated track weapon for a loud midnight cruise right through downtown traffic.
While driving this on public roads is technically illegal it creates a surreal video game moment for anyone lucky enough to witness the madness live.

TAMy first official race was a huge success! Potentially may have secured my first (anonymous) sponsor as well! Had a phenomenal start making up 3 positions through turn 1 (passed a car on the straight you can’t see on camera) and then nearly lost the car twice, but was able to save it. Wait until you see it from the POV behind me. In the 2nd race on Sunday I improved my best lap time by 4 tenths on old tires.
Through out the entire weekend I improved every single session, thanks to @christian_okpysh for the coaching🫶🏼
I come to the track alone, but grateful to be surrounded by amazing people like the other guys in Formula Mazda and the Simpson family/friends @ricky_simpson2959 @simpsonmotorsports28 @jr_podsiad_racing 🙏🏼✝️
