HOThis detail looks simple annnd because it is.
Before the pour, we embed a PWF 2x4 into the top of the ICF wall peppered with galvanized nails.
Why it works:
• Creates a clean anchorage point for the floor system
• Sets elevation accurately, just like conventional ladder forming ✔️ooooh 👌
• Reduces post-pour drilling, guessing, and rework
If you’ve built conventional concrete basements, this isn’t new 😄
it’s just a detail ICF doesn’t use often enough.
Important note:
Details like this should always be reviewed by the Engineer of Record, especially where lateral loads, uplift, or seismic forces govern.
ICF doesn’t eliminate good building practices.

BITuesday the #carpenter edition
It was fun stopping by the @fabformindustries at World of Concrete last week. I have used Fast-Tube on a few projects now, and will again soon. Fast-Foot is extremely easy to store, and strip. It is also very easy to form colums with. It is light weight and easy to work with. Most importantly it doesn’t care if it gets wet!
