DA( RELEASE 1 ) Mastering the basics
The #release1 chip and run shot is your bread and butter short game shot that must be mastered first. This is a low shot with less spin, which rolls out gently towards the target. The great thing about this shot is your technique doesn’t need to change, you simply alter the club in your hand to play different distances

SET-UP AND SWING BASICS
✅ Stand closer to the ball with a flatter lead wrist
✅ Keep 60% of your weight on the lead foot
✅ Rotate smoothly with your chest pointing to the target after impact

MILots of you ask how I started learning my golf swing… I basically practiced body movements only (no hitting balls) for agesss!! Did this move every day for like 5/10 mins to engrain it as I felt the golf movement was so foreign to me.
Tbh it helped me coordinate my body and improve my swing faster than if perhaps I hadn’t done any body movement practice. So if you’re starting / wanting to improve your body movements, do this drill slowly for a little bit each day! It’s helped me! (Although I still need to do it as I’ve got a bit rusty haha)
STARTING POSITION:
1. Feet shoulder width apart (stability)
2. Feet slightly turned out
3. Arms across chest
4. Knees slightly bent (comfortable)
TAKEAWAY:
1. Chest moves round so left shoulder is pointing to where the ball would be
2. Hips turn but don’t shift or sway (think about a small circle drawn around your hips and they’re moving around your body within that circle)
3. Knees remain slightly bent (you should feel a gentle resistance in your right knee from the turn - i.e loading it up)
DOWNSWING:
1. Left shoulder moves down and around
2. Knees go into a light squat position then turn as you transfer the weight from your right leg onto your left
3. Chest should end up being slightly left of target, meaning you’ve fully turned your body through your swing properly
Note: movements are generally slightly exaggerated as when you hit a ball it lessens the movement naturally

ALTeaching junior golfers the difference between swinging at the ball and impacting through the ball. ⛳️
We used these impact paddles today to focus on three key areas:
1) Lag & Compression: Many juniors tend to “cast” the club early. By hitting a heavy, resistant surface, they learn that they need their hands ahead of the clubhead to create power.
2) Post-Impact Release: It’s easy to stop at the ball. This drill forces the golfer to feel the energy transfer through the hitting zone, teaching them to use their big muscles (core and glutes) rather than just “flipping” their wrists.
3) Stability & Strength: Junior golfers are still developing forearm and grip strength. The resistance from the paddles builds the “functional strength” needed to hold the face square through impact, even when hitting out of thick rough or hitting down on the ball.
When they feel that “thump,” they understand that golf isn’t just about speed, it’s about solid contact. 🏌️♂️💪
