AN⛳️ 3 Pitching Mistakes That Are Costing You Strokes (And How to Fix Them!)
Pitching is where good rounds are made (or saved). But these 3 mistakes are some of the most common I see — and they can turn a simple up-and-down into a double bogey. 👇

1️⃣ Opening the Face Too Much
A slightly open face is great — it uses the bounce and launches it a little higher — but too open can cause you to slide under the ball, hit it fat, or leave it way short.
✅ Fix: Open the face just a touch (think 1–2 degrees, not flop-shot levels). Then set your grip after you open the face, so the club feels square to you.

2️⃣ Inconsistent Tempo
Some golfers swing too fast back and then decelerate, while others slow back and then rush through. Both make distance control a nightmare.
✅ Fix: Focus on smooth back, smooth through with the same rhythm every time. Imagine your backswing and follow-through are mirror images — that’s how you get consistent yardages.

3️⃣ Stopping Body Rotation
If your chest stops turning through the ball, your hands flip and your low point moves. That’s when you get those thin screamers or chunked shots.
✅ Fix: Feel like your chest faces the target by the time the club hits the ball. A simple drill is to put an alignment stick across your hips and turn until it points at the target post-impact.

DEWhat people see in good players is an early shift, or lateral motion or a re centering, but they created it and felt it at some point in the backswing otherwise it’s too late in the overall timing. It may happen first, but it cld be too late. In which case the other “forces are too late”

Most golfers see their big “Swing Faults” but often don’t realise that they are “symptoms” of something deeper.
The golf swing is a series of compensation movements in order to get the ball starting on target and the human body and brain will figure out some way, whether is be an “over the top, hanging back, early release”.
Trying to fix there without addressing the root cause will waste your time.
Simon came to me for coaching and simplest addressing the club face issue in the back swing, allowed the rest of his golf swing to take shape where he went from hitting high, weak slices to powerful draws. Don’t forget to check your club face in your swing. It could be the key to unlocking way more consistency.
