I love how a lot of black Americans and Caribbeans experienced having a grandmother like this . Both my elders were on this type of time . Its not witchcraft in a negative form . Its just high spiritual science. This is an Ai generated video, but the real world application of it is indeed something real. Who reambers being small and watching your grandmother do these types of practices? We were blessed to experience those things and didn't even know it . They was praying over the family like no tomorrow and keeping us safe on a etheric level. They knew all the juju and was healing and protecting multiple house holds. My mother told me a story about my great uncle who couldn't walk . He was sent out to our Gullah Geechee family down south . His uncle who was a Rootz doctor as they called him did a ritual with mud and other things ,afterwards he was able to walk . These are the powers that our ancestors had. If only that high science continued to be passed down and our elders didn't let religious beliefs cloud their minds . As a people,we would be soo far ahead its not even funny.

Rice Johnny (Carolina Rice Johnny Cakes) come from the Gullah Geechee Corridor of South Carolina and Coastal Georgia, where rice culture was shaped by enslaved Africans from the Rice Coast of West Africa. Rice wasn’t just food. It was survival, skill, memory, and everyday life. Leftover rice was never wasted. It was stretched, seasoned, and fried into crispy rice cakes for breakfast, supper, and everything in between. Savory with eggs and greens, or sweet with molasses and cane syrup. Today we’re bringing this forgotten staple back. 🍚 Authentic Rice Johnny Recipe
(Old-school savory version) Ingredients
2 cups cooked white rice (400 g) — cold/leftover works best
1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ small onion, finely minced
1 egg
¾ cup milk or buttermilk (180 ml)
2–3 tbsp bacon grease, lard, or oil for frying Instructions
1️⃣ Mix the batter
In a bowl combine cooked rice, flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and minced onion. 2️⃣ Add egg and milk or buttermilk. Stir until a thick, scoopable batter forms. 3️⃣ Heat bacon grease or oil in a skillet over medium heat. 4️⃣ Drop ¼-cup scoops into skillet and flatten slightly. Cook 3–4 minutes per side until deep golden and crisp. 5️⃣ Drain and serve hot. 🍽️ Traditional ways to serve
Savory: with eggs, breakfast meat, greens, cabbage, gravy, or stewed beans
Sweet: with cane syrup or molasses

💀Old folks used to say when you mock the departed, the spirit world starts listening. 10 Southern and Gullah Geechee beliefs about disrespecting the dead that elders used to pass down. 1. Never whistle near a graveyard Some elders said whistling near graves could call wandering spirits. That sound was believed to travel between worlds. 2. Don’t step on someone’s grave Old folks said stepping on a grave was disrespectful and could cause the spirit to follow you home. 3. Don’t point at graves Pointing directly at a grave was believed to disturb the spirit resting there. Some elders would slap your hand down quick for doing that. 4. If you talk bad about the dead, knock on wood This was done to break the energy of the words so they wouldn’t travel to the spirit world. 5. Cover mirrors after a death In some Black Southern traditions, mirrors were covered because spirits were believed to linger and get trapped in reflections. 6. Don’t sweep dirt from a grave toward yourself When visiting graves, elders warned never to sweep dirt toward your feet. That meant bringing grave energy back home with you. 7. If a bird taps your window after someone dies Some believed it was a spirit trying to send a message or letting you know they passed through. 8. Don’t take things from graves Even a flower. Some believed taking anything from a grave could bring heavy bad luck or sickness. 9. Say “rest their soul” when the dead are mentioned This was a way of showing respect so the spirit stays at peace. 10. Never brag about the dead’s suffering Some elders believed speaking on someone’s suffering after death could bring the same hardship back on your own family line. #blackspirituality #spirituality #hoodoo #ancestors

The Ring Shout is a traditional African American spiritual practice that blends ancestral elements such as Polyrhythms, Call and Response, and Counterclockwise movement with Christian praise and worship. The Gullah Geechee ring shouters, rooted in coastal Georgia have revived the practice and performed globally as stewards of Gullah Geechee heritage and culture ! #gullahgeechee #ringshout #blackamerican

Haint blue is more nuanced than being a tradition of Gullah Geechee culture. Its history is much more nuanced and what it actually represents should make us reframe how we see haint blue and how we honor those that created it. A charming color has a sordid past. The southern glamor piece is a byproduct of survival. Let’s talk about it. #history #haintblue #south #southernfacts #facts #education #learning #didyouknow #discover #indigo #culture #paint #design #paranormal #ancestral #home

Caroline from Charleston, South Carolina, shares Gullah words and their meanings. Her goal is to teach others about the language and its history. *Gullah is an English-based Creole language spoken by the Gullah Geechee people along the Southeast coast of the U.S. It developed as English merged with West and Central African languages, and is also closely related to Jamaican Patois and Bahamian Creole English. #Gullah #GullahGeeChee

Happy National Soul Food History Month 🙆🏾‍♀️- Charleston Red Rice was first brought to the American South by enslaved Africans, and has been perfected by the Gullah Geechee people for generations. This classic Lowcountry side dish that’s made by cooking long grain white rice in the oven with bacon, the #holytrinity, garlic, and tomato sauce. The end result is tender, fluffy rice with rich tomato flavor, a touch of sweetness, and a hint of smokiness! Serve this simple dish with any of your favorite Southern meals, such as chicken and gravy, greens, fried catfish, or my oven baked ribs. #nationalsoulfoodhistorymonth #soulfood #nytcooking #throwsomethingonthegrill 📹: @natashajanardan Repost from @nytcooking • @chefmilliepeartree‘s recipe is at the link in bio!

Everybody wants culture… but nobody wants to cook the food that carries it. Gullah Geechee red rice is one of those dishes that lived in everyday kitchens across the coastal South, with roots tracing back to West African cooking traditions. Meals like this weren’t fancy they were practical, nourishing, and passed down through generations. But when we stop cooking and start relying on convenience for every meal, recipes like this slowly disappear from our tables. The truth is, this dish isn’t complicated. It just takes the decision to step into the kitchen and keep the tradition alive. If you want to try it, the full step-by-step recipe is in the link in my bio. Or comment RICE and I’ll send it to you. 🍚🖤

Enslaved Africans came here with a whole wealth of agricultural knowledge and food traditions that date back hundreds of years before they ever set foot on our shores.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ I am a product of the US public school system and we should have learned all of this— but we never did. It’s so important to recognize that many hands made this country what is it, often with little or no credit.⁣⁣⁣⁣ I learned so much from the Gullah Geechee community filming this episode of #TasteTheNation, which is streaming for free on YouTube in honor of #Juneteenth. My last post that featured @queenzflip on @joebuddennetwork admittedly was simply reposted out of sheer boredom, as well as for “shits & giggles” as it relates to my people’s love of rice, BUT honestly there’s a deeper history behind why RICE actually has such a strong connection to the people within the African diaspora across the globe who are either from the motherland, the Caribbean, or from right here in the United States. Rice, and the cultivation/consumption of it is a part of our story that definitely pre-dates our history over here on the western hemisphere. Btw, I should mention that CAROLINA GOLD RICE IS THE BEST RICE ON THE PLANET, in my humble and personal opinion. 🤷🏾‍♂️😂💯 You can find it down in The Low Country of South Carolina/Georgia, and it’s absolutely AMAZING just by itself. Even fine dining restaurants in Charleston and Savannah have it featured on their menus now, and people are willing to pay a nice piece of change for it too. 💯 Aye, but S/o to Black owned rice farms like @rollensrawgrains in Hardeeville SC for keeping this particular kind of rice that was brought over from our ancestors alive and in circulation throughout the community for future generations to enjoy. S/o to @geecheegoddessakua as well for sharing the history behind this African/Low Country rice, as well as for sharing her knowledge/wisdom about the history of the Gullah Geechee people and culture. #CarolinaGoldRice #Rp via @rollensrawgrains
