If you want to get some hybrid training in your life, but you're not sure how to get started - this is for you! Make sure you save this post for later. Firstly let's clear something up, 'hybrid athlete' is just a real fancy way that people of today refer to themselves if they run and lift weights. People have been running and lifting weights for as long as I've worked in the industry, it's been a while 😂 - DEFINE YOUR STARTING POINT. Whether you're right at the start of your fitness journey, or if you've been lifting or running for years - hybrid training is for you. But, depending on your experience and training background, your starting point is going to look a little different. - FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU LIKE. There's loads of ways to combine strength & endurance training - powerlifting, running, swimming, CrossFit, Hyrox. The list goes on. Which training styles interest you? Take a week or two and try some out. Figure out what you enjoy (or perhaps despise the least). It's going to be much easier to sustain training that you enjoy for the time it takes to see significant results. - SET SOME GOALS. Once you've figured out where you are & what you like, you're ready to decide where you'd like to get to with your training & fitness. Start small. Something that you could realistically achieve within a month or two. Stack the small wins and allow yourself to aim higher & higher. - MAKE A PLAN. Now that we've got an idea of where we want to get to, it's time to design a training program that's going to get us there. My DM's are always open if you'd like any help with this. - KEEP SHOWING UP. All that's left now is to get to work! Results don't come over night, however. So, focus instead on building the habit of training so that it becomes a part of your lifestyle & then your identity. Celebrate small victories. Be patient & keep showing up.
