I’m happier when I’m doing a project 😊 From the moment we moved in, I dreamed of a statement piece island. This project was very pivotal in my diy journey. It was the first time I built something completely on my own with an idea from my imagination. No “how-to videos”, tutorials, or mentors to help me along the way. After much scheming and planning and dreaming, I finally made the decision to just start and work my way through any trials along the way. It turned out exactly how I envisioned and that brings me so much joy. But what’s given me EVEN MORE JOY is seeing all the people who have recreated the island in their homes. Seeing their success has made it all worth it and why I continue to show up. I still can’t believe our first kitchen designer told us we didn’t have space for an island… That was the exact moment I decided to design the kitchen myself. And I did — unit by unit. Now we have a 180 × 100 cm island, the perfect size for three stools and our open-plan dining space. So proud of how it turned out. Just goes to show — don’t settle for the first shop you visit.
