MOOur review of the Lexus RZ drops Monday!
🔴 The RZ has a 71.4 kWh battery with up to 354 km/220 miles of EV range, 313 horsepower and Direct4 AWD. With the larger 20” wheels, you get a little less range, 315 km/196 miles.
🔵 We are driving the base trim for $64,950 CAD/$59,650 USD. It comes with some good standard features including, LED headlamps, LED rear combination lamps, power folding mirrors, roof rails, a heated and illuminated front Lexus emblem and 18” wheels.
👉 Other standard features include, a 7” multi-information display, 14” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 10-speaker audio system, a wireless charger, heated steering wheel, heated front seats, Nuluxe interior trim, 8-way power driver and passenger seats and Lexus Safety System + 3.0.
🇺🇸 In the US, the base trim also comes standard with ventilated front seats, driver seat memory, a panoramic glass roof, power rear door with kick sensor and a panoramic view monitor.
🟢 The RZ has a 6.6 kW onboard charger and its DC Fast charging capability is limited to 150 kW connections, it is capable of an 80% charge in about 30 minutes and with a Level 2 charger 10 hours.
🔴 Lexus offers a warranty of 4 years or 80,000 km/50,000 miles. In the US, complimentary maintenance is covered for 1 year or 10,000 miles.

And well, I would hold off on this $67k attempt. My RZ Luxury tester was finished in a gorgeous Ether paint with an equally nice Thunderstorm & Macadamia NuLux Ultrasuede interior. So what’s SO wrong here?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏁 @Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Powering the RZ is a 71.4kWh battery pack of which just around 63kWh are usable. It gets dual motors for Direct4 AWD with around 308HP and 321 lb-ft of torque.
Now with the 20in wheels I had, the MAX range is 196miles by the EPA.. I barely saw 180miles even with a 2.9kWh/mile average. 🏁 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
+ The build quality and design, while subjective, is solid and fresh, projecting the future of Lexus’s electrification
+Unique interior materials, a slick touchscreen, dynamic HUD, and clever radiant heating all are welcome luxuries.
-The range unfortunately is unacceptable for the price tag. I also never saw the 150kW charging speeds, with a max around 130kw sustained for just under 20% of a 10-80% charging session.
-The severe lack of on board EV data is also a huge miss for such a big company, you can’t even view battery percentage, only a guessometer range estimate.
-On my 400 mile roadtrip, I genuinely was afraid to use the climate controls or risk losing 20-30 miles of range. Radiant heating & ventilated seats were handy.
Should you buy an RZ? Well maybe with nearly $20k in discounts maybe, and if you only drive locally & are a diehard Lexus fan. Otherwise, I advise elsewhere or to a better suited Lexus Hybrid or PHEV.

LE#LexusRZ ✨ Available in the U.S. at a future date, the all-new Steer by Wire system enables the electronic exchange of steering and road surface information between the advanced steering control and tires via electrical signals, not mechanical linkage.
As such, drivers feel quick, controlled, communicative steering reactions. The system’s steering ratio constantly works to adjust to the RZ’s speed, thereby allowing for superb agility in slow-speed situations and impressive stability while at higher speeds. The racing-inspired steering control has an all-new gauge cluster that sits higher (by 1.5 in.) and farther away (by 1.4 in.) from the driver with the goal of minimizing their line-of-sight movement. The unique flat-bottom shape benefits driver ingress, egress, and forward visibility.
