Every provider has a niche, and I take that seriously. In my work, I collaborate closely with craniosacral therapists, other chiropractors, functional neurologists, dentists, and fellow lactation consultants. Sometimes parents are surprised by this, but I remind them: everyone has a role in this game. My niche sits at the intersection of chiropractic care and lactation. I focus on • assessing tongue ties through a functional lens • improving nervous system function and resilience • understanding how physiology drives feeding, comfort, and regulation My training in functional neurology and functional medicine gives me a specific perspective—but it doesn’t mean I’m the right provider for everything. That’s why I regularly refer out. I send families to baby cafés and other lactation consultants for things like • colostrum harvesting • NICU babies who need detailed caloric intake support • more complex neurological cases that require deeper specialty care There’s no shame in collaboration. In fact, it’s a sign of good care. If a provider ever tells you not to seek another opinion or discourages you from seeing another specialist, I encourage you to pause and ask why. The goal isn’t ownership of your care—it’s the best outcome for your baby. Because when providers stay in their lane and work together, families win. #CollaborativeCare #WholeBabyCare #TongueTieAssessment #InfantFeedingSupport #NervousSystemHealth #FunctionalMedicine #ChiropracticCareForBabies #LactationSupport #IBCLCCare #IntegratedHealthcare #InfantWellness #ParentEducation #BabyHealth #TeamBasedCare

Breastfeeding is fairly predictable for the first 6 or so months. Then your baby learns fun new things like how to sit, crawl, stand, and walk. They don’t want to be cradled to nurse anymore. The more they can move, the more they want to! They’re distracted and playful. They’re strong, opinionated, and MOBILE. They’ll stop by for sips here and snacks there, and then settle in for a full 20 minutes of nursing while trying to pick your nose. How on earth are you supposed to latch someone who wants to put their toes in your ear? The key is letting go of the image in your head of the fresh new baby with predictable feeding patterns, all nestled up in a perfect cradle hold. Go with the new flow! You’re allowed to guide and correct. You can have boundaries - especially with toddlers - but it’s also very ok to let them stop mid-feeding to look out the window or run off to grab their new favorite toy and come back later. As long as weight gain, overall growth, and hydration are all in normal ranges, you can enjoy and embrace the new antics of your older nursing baby! #breastfeedingtoddlers #breastfeedingpastinfancy #nursingyoga #lactationsupport #breastfeeding

For effective (breast) milk transfer, ensure your baby has a wide, open mouth and a deep latch, paired with proper tongue movements for efficient breastfeeding. A deep, strong latch is key to successful feeding and maximizing milk supply. Experiencing nipple pain or concerned about your baby’s latch or sucking ability? Seek a functional feeding assessment from a qualified professional, such as a lactation consultant, ‘knowledgeable OT/PT/speech therapist, or pediatric dentist. They can identify issues like tongue-tie or latch difficulties and offer tailored support to enhance your baby feeding experience. Every mother dreams of exclusively breastfeeding 🤱 — not just for nourishment, but for the deep emotional bond it creates between mom and baby. 💞 With 22+ years of experience as an OBGYN and lactation expert 👩‍⚕️, I’ve seen these simple, natural practices truly support milk supply and help moms feel more confident. ✨ Remember: Offer fewer formula bottles, ensure proper latch, and create a calm, comfortable feeding environment. Your body responds beautifully to consistency, skin-to-skin contact, rest, and nourishment. ❤️ Here’s a powerful list of foods known to support breast milk supply and quality: • Shatavari powder • Fenugreek seeds • Fennel seed water • Moringa powder • Flax seeds • Oatmeal • Milk thistle • Sattu water • Lactation tea • Brewer’s yeast & malted barley drinks • Almonds • Legumes like chickpeas & masoor dal • Carrot & beetroot juice • Spirulina (powder or capsules) • Edible gum (gondh) • Sweet potatoes & unripe papaya • Protein-rich foods & green leafy vegetables like broccoli and spinach Nourish yourself. Rest well. Hydrate. Feed frequently. Trust your body. 🌸 Small, consistent steps can make a big difference in your breastfeeding journey. ❤️ Save this for later. 💌 Share with expecting and new moms who need this support. Because every mom deserves a smooth and confident breastfeeding journey. 💕 . . . Breastfeeding beyond 6 months – is it really ‘pointless’? Here’s what science (not Karens) actually says 🧪🍼👇 👶 The World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding for 2 years and BEYOND, alongside solids. Why? Because breastmilk continues to offer: ✨ Antibodies & immune protection – helping prevent common infections like ear infections, diarrhoea, and respiratory illnesses 🧠 Support for brain development – with essential fatty acids like DHA 👁️ Dynamic nutrients – breastmilk literally adapts to your baby’s age and needs 💛 Comfort & connection – for soothing teething pain, illness, or just big emotions 🦠 Reduced risk of illnesses – including asthma, eczema, Type 1 diabetes, and obesity 🧬 Improved gut health – via beneficial bacteria and enzymes And for mothers? 💪 Lower risk of breast, ovarian, and endometrial cancer 🫀 Supports heart health and reduces risk of high blood pressure 🧠 Linked with lower rates of postpartum depression and better emotional bonding 🦴 May reduce the risk of osteoporosis later in life 🤱 Breastfeeding is never one-size-fits-all. You can stop whenever is right for you. But don’t let misinformation steal your confidence. Whether it’s 6 days, 6 months, or 2+ years – breastfeeding has benefits for as long as it continues. I have fed each on my journey aged 2y+ and I share that with pride Your body knows. Your baby knows. Trust that. 📌 Save this post for when you need a confidence boost 👯‍♀️ Share it with another mum who needs to hear this 💬 Tell me in the comments: What helped you feel confident in your feeding journey? #breastfeedingbenefits #paediatricianexplains #whorecommends #breastfeedingjourney #maternalhealth #evidencebasedparenting #fedwithfacts #parentingmyths #lactationsupport #mumtok #sixmonthmilestone #toddlerbreastfeeding #breatsmilk #paediatrician #paedaitrics #karenmillen

This is your reminder to check in on your postpartum friends. It’s brutal out there and anything helps, no matter how big or small. Something as small as having a daily routine of making a smoothie (or getting your husband to make it for you 😊) can make ALL the difference in the world. Especially when it’s packed with nutrients that promote lactation, boost serotonin & help you get on the road to feeling like yourself again. Right now you can get The bomb mom bundle (2 Mother of Dragons 10pks & 1 Vanilla Bomb Plant Protein) on our website for $89.99. That’s $24 off!!! In November of 2015, Milky Mama was born. After having my second child and returning to work, I struggled with my milk supply and realized that there were very few resources for breastfeeding mothers in the same predicament. I knew then that I had to come up with a solution that would help to increase my milk supply. Using my knowledge as a Registered Nurse and love for baking, I developed a milk-making cookie recipe and fell in love with the results. These lactation cookies dramatically increased my supply. Soon after, I decided I could not keep my discovery a secret and had to share this with other mamas going through a similar situation. Thank you for being part of this community 🩷 Whether it’s our lactation treats, Facebook group, breastfeeding course, lactation consultations, or breastfeeding advice, we’re here because of YOU. Here’s to the journey and all that’s to come.
