Digital audience insights company GWI carried out an analysis for the FT of the online habits of 250,000 adults in more than 50 countries showing people turning away from the platforms. And this is not just the unwinding of a bump in screen time during pandemic lockdowns — usage has traced a smooth curve up and down over the past decade-plus. Across the developed world, adults aged 16 and older spent an average of two hours and 20 minutes per day on social platforms at the end of 2024, down almost 10% since 2022. As it’s a date of a major solar eclipse that signifies major global changes... Now I am neither an expert on astrology, nor on financial trading... but it’s insane how many people in India are interested in learning how to trade in stocks using astrology, and not fundamentals of a company’s financial statements... You type “Astro Trading” online, and it shows up a huge number of events, coaching classes, and suggestions on how to master Options Trading through Astrological analysis. It reminds me of the time when I was speaking with the founder of one of India’s largest skills teaching ed-tech app, and he said that the most widely selling courses in India are: 1/ Futures & Options Trading 2/ English Speaking and Communication 3/ Astrology Reason being all three sell the hope of people being able to earn more money with little requirement of a degree... and they can seemingly learn this at any age. Clearly, astro trading combines two of the three top selling courses, and in a market like India, it would sell like hot cakes. Interestingly, SEBI does not ban astro-trading, and does not take action against the teacher as long as they are a Registered Investment Advisor... I may or may not be a believer, but I’m just curious to see how the markets will behave between 17th to 20th Feb - only to see if these astrological predictions may come true, and how subjective would the interpretation be on the market movements at that time. Again, this is not investment advice, not even education. This is just my view on how Indians behave and what they pay for. #casarthakahuja
