Deadlifts last night were hard and heavy and it was 'only' 220kg I just wanted to touch on the 'only' part of this statement. 'Only' diminishes the achievement. It's negative self-talk. 2 weeks ago it was a top triple for me easily. Last week I couldn't  move it off the floor.. at all.. and I had a tantrum. This week it's 'only' 220kg and another tantrum because I'm frustrated. On reflection: Did I meet the prescribed rpe for me today? Yes Did I prepare for this session the best way possible? Mostly yes Did i apply myself and try my hardest? Yes, you can see that part So  there is no point being mean to myself. Being so negative  just breeds more negativity. This is what I had to give on this session and really that's the end of it. As competitive athletes we always want more,  more, more and nothing is ever enough, but we are all human and some days there just isn't more. Process, reflect , move on. Be kinder to yourself. Today is a new day. Most people lose their brace at the bottom of an overhead press. That’s where you relax, lose tension, and force your shoulders to take over. The brace doesn’t live at the bottom, it lives at the top. Lock in place, lift the chest to the bar, and press up into that stacked, solid position. That’s where you reset, breathe, and stay strong through every rep. When your knuckles point slightly behind your body, it lets you brace into your midline instead of fighting the bar in front of you. I did initially want to break my own British Open Record of 82kg but to be transparent unless the universe aligns that would be unlikely at this point. There is no officially set u82kg British Record but I wanted to be as close to my original Record as I could get.
