EJThrowback Thursday ✨
A year ago (4. May 2022) I had my Graduation Recital at the Philippine High School for the Arts. I am super grateful to perform with the Manila Symphony Orchestra @manila.symphony and the one and only, Ms. Mariel Ilusorio; and to be professionally recorded by Classical Recordist @classicalrecordist.
I still couldn’t believe that a year has already passed. Lots of hardships along the way but with determination and trust, everything can be possible. Not my perfect Sibelius yet, but still I’m proud sharing this to you all.
Can’t wait to go back home and perform!

This collective "leadership" group has the ability to terminate and bring legal action against Bonnie Henry as PHSA is her employer.
BC Children's Hospital (where I was fired from last November) very recently called a Code Orange meaning the staffing shortage was at such a critical level that they deemed it a hospital-wide emergency. They did this while continuing to prevent capable, intelligent, skilled, caring healthcare workers from helping out in a time of such dire need. Somebody please make this make sense.
Please reach out to PHSA to voice your concerns about how detrimental their actions are to all of us in BC.

Kaya aside from fresh air, maraming puno, eto pa yung isang dopamine boost-- free concerts yay! Kung pwede lang talaga panuorin lahat ng recitals.

ELA Tribute to Roberto “Sir Bob” Feleo: Maestro, Mentor, Cultural Luminary (1954–2025)
With profound respect and enduring gratitude, I honor the legacy of Roberto “Sir Bob” Feleo—our Maestro in the Visual Arts, a living legend of Makiling, and a visionary patriot whose influence shaped my artistic path. As Amain ng mga Alagad ng Sining at the Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA), Sir Bob was more than a teacher. He's a future National Artist, a relentless advocate for excellence, discipline, and cultural authorship.
His mantra, “Ang Pwede Na Yan ay Hindi Pwede”—“That will do, will never do”—was not just a rejection of mediocrity. It was a call to elevate every work into its most powerful form. “Pour your heart and soul into it,” he urged, reminding us that art must provoke, endure, and carry ancestral light.
Sir Bob revered our ancestors, and through his teaching, so did we. He introduced us to the rebels of Modern Art—Duchamp, Pollock—but always rooted us in Filipino cosmology. Instead of emulating Pollock’s drip, he gave us Binura—a subtractive technique where light emerges through erasure, echoing the Manunggul Jar. “Art is a verb,” he taught. The process was the prayer.
We mounted Manila paper, layered complementary colors, drew our images, then erased with wet cloth to reveal light. Each gesture reclaimed ancestral technique. He also taught us to sculpt with sawdust or crushed eggshells mixed with glue—molding wood-like or ivory-like forms, sanding, priming, and painting them with reverence.
Between 1987 and 1989, under his mentorship, we explored foundational cosmologies: Baybayin, Magwayen, Kapwa, Anito, Bakunawa, Bayawak, Anting-Anting, Bathala—symbols that anchor my work to this day. Sir Bob nurtured my ambition. At 15, I created Langit, Lupa, at Impyerno ng Lipunang Pilipino—a fusion of Catholic retablo and Jeepney, my first experiential piece.
His belief in me led to the greatest honors of my youth: the medallion for Most Outstanding Student in Visual Arts, Nehru Gold medal, India; the full M.A.R.I.A. scholarship from the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and being named Model Student of the Year.
