POtrimming saucers all day yesterday and i genuinely cannot turn my head to the left…. the problem is i like to trim from underneath so i can see the profile and exactly what i’m taking off. the saucers for the rituals collection sit really low on the wheel and somehow i always end up like this 🙃 … i should probably get a mirror
ANYWAY. i said i wasn’t making any more Rituals pieces until the holidays. and then i had an idea based off a commission i got 🥰 typical of me to run my business based off vibes, so here we are, trimming saucers at an angle that should not be allowed.

Zart, kaum greifbar und doch von innen heraus leuchtend.
Wie der morgendliche Nebel im frühen Herbst, der von der Morgensonne beleuchtet wird.
Ich habe diese Glasurkombi von Meg Varner Miller in einem Glasurforum gefunden und mich sofort verliebt. 🥰
Auf dem gegossenen Porzellan kommt sie mega gut zur Geltung.
Da ich aber ja eigentlich mit Steinzeug töpfere, werde ich sie bald auch auf diesem probieren.

ALDIY - Große Bienensteine 🐝
Bienensteine sind Nisthilfen für Wildbienen aus gebranntem Ton.
Diese kannst du ganz einfach selbst herstellen oder halt in unserem Onlineshop www.almahatzeit.de kaufen 🥰😜
Aber heute geht's hier ja ums "selbst herstellen", daher ein paar Tipps von uns für ein 4er Set "Große Bienensteine "
💛 Für große Bienensteine im Format 12x12x12cm empfehle wir dir eine Einwaage von 2,5-3 kg Ton.
💛 Der Ton sollte leicht schamottiert sein, ca. 20-30% (0-0,2mm), die Sorte spielt dabei keine Rolle. Die Schamotte sorgen unter anderem dafür, daß der Ton beim Brennen nicht so schnell reißt.
💛 Jetzt kann der Ton verziert werden. Hierfür verwenden wir oft Textilstempel aus Holz. Es eignen sich aber auch ganz normale Kinderstempel 🥰
💛 Zum Pieksen der Nistgänge verwenden wir Holzstricknadeln mit einem Durchmesser von 2,5 -8mm. Die gibt es im Paket mit verschiedenen Größen günstig zu kaufen.
💡 Ganz wichtig, halte unbedingt diese Faustregel ein:
Der Durchmesser des Nistgangs x10 ist = die Mindesttiefe des Nistgangs!!
Bei großen Bienensteinen verwendest du daher Nadeln mit einem Durchmesser von 3-9mm
💛 Beim Stechen bleiben alle Nadeln im Ton, sie werden erst nach und nach entfernt. So verhinderst du, dass Nistgänge durchs Stechen wieder zugedrückt werden. Kleine Löcher mit einem Durchmesser von 3mm können auch nur von oben gestochen werden, da sie sich nicht so schnell zuziehen.
💛 Zum Schluss werden die Nistgänge von hinten mit einem Teigschaber zugeschmiert, denn Wildbienen mögen keine Zugluft.
💛 Nun kann der Bienenstein trocknen. Fühlt er sich warm an, kann er meist gebrannt werden. Zu feuchter Ton fühlt sich eher kalt an.
💛 Solltest du keinen eigenen Brennofen besitzen, kannst du dich nach einer Töpferei oder einem Keramikhandel umsehen. Viele bieten dort einen Brennservice an. Gebrannt wird im Schrühbrand bei ca. 1000°C, je nach Tonsorte.
