了解文教授的研究歷程:https://bit.ly/3EtcEBq 文教授的研究發現:https://bit.ly/462gNIj 【#CUHKResearchChangingtheworld ─ Palaeontology putting dinosaur flesh back on the bones】 There are a lot of gaps to be filled in understanding prehistoric ecology. The lack of data has given rise to speculations and myths. At CUHK, Professor Michael Pittman, a leading scientist in the field of vertebrate palaeontology, has been using innovative technology to revolutionise our understanding of prehistoric life. Professor Pittman’s team first introduced laser-stimulated fluorescence (#LSF) technology in #palaeontology in 2017. Before the application, ultraviolet imaging was the closest method used to study fossils. 🧠 Prehistoric Facts That Will Make You Lose Your Mind 💀🌍 (The Last One Is Absolutely Insane…) You think you know Old Earth? Think again. Prehistory wasn’t just giant dinosaurs — It was bizarre, terrifying… and completely unreal. Here are facts that sound fake — but aren’t: 🦈 Sharks Are Older Than Trees Sharks existed over 400 million years ago. Trees appeared nearly 50 million years later. 🌋 There Was a Time It Rained for 2 Million Years Ancient climate shifts triggered nonstop rainfall that reshaped life on land. 🦴 Some Dinosaurs Had Feathers Not scales. Not reptile skin. Actual feathers — evolution was already experimenting. 🧊 Antarctica Was Once a Forest Warm, green, and filled with life — before it froze into the continent we know today. ☄ 99% of All Species That Ever Lived Are Extinct Everything we see today is just a tiny fraction of Earth’s biological history. And here’s the one that’s absolutely nuts — 🧬 You Share DNA With Prehistoric Life Every human carries genetic traces from ancient lineages that survived extinction after extinction. Old Earth wasn’t simple. It was chaotic. Experimental. Relentless. And somehow — we’re the survivors of it all. 💬 Which fact disturbed you the most? 👉 Follow @forgottenearthfiles for more Deadliest Prehistoric Era files and mind-breaking Old Earth truths. 🎥 Video Credit: DM for credits/removal to the real owner. . . . #prehistoric #oldearth #prehistoricplanet #ancientearth #forgottenearthfiles

🌍 Earth Before Humans Was Pure Survival 🦖☠️ Before civilization, the planet was a battlefield of instinct, predators, and environments built to test every living thing. Prehistoric life wasn’t gentle — it was raw, competitive, and relentless. ⚠ Predators shaped the food chain 🌫 Nature hid dangers everywhere 🦴 Only the adaptable survived 👣 Every moment carried risk 😵 Extinction was always one step away This is the forgotten era — where survival wrote history. 💬 Could you survive this world? 👉 Follow @forgottenearthfiles for the most brutal chapters of Earth’s past. 🎥 Video Credit: DM for credits/removal to the real owner. . . . #prehistoric #oldearth #extinctanimals #survival #forgottenearth

The Spinosaurus aegyptiacus is one of the most intriguing and controversial dinosaurs ever discovered, standing as a testament to the sheer diversity of prehistoric life. Originally unearthed in Egypt by German paleontologist Ernst Stromer in the early 20th century, this "spine lizard" lived during the Cretaceous period, roughly 95 to 99 million years ago. It is famously recognized as the largest known carnivorous dinosaur, even surpassing the Tyrannosaurus rex and Giganotosaurus in length, with estimates suggesting it could reach up to 15 meters (nearly 50 feet). What truly sets Spinosaurus apart is its suite of unique semi-aquatic adaptations, which challenged the long-held belief that dinosaurs were strictly land-dwellers. It possessed a long, crocodilian snout filled with conical teeth—perfect for gripping slippery prey—and high-set nostrils that allowed it to breathe while partially submerged. Most iconic, however, is the massive "sail" on its back, supported by neural spines reaching up to 1.65 meters in height. While scientists still debate its primary function, it likely served as a tool for thermoregulation, display, or even as a stabilizer while swimming through the ancient river systems of North Africa. In recent years, our understanding of Spinosaurus has undergone a dramatic transformation. Newer fossil discoveries, including a surprisingly paddle-like tail, suggest that it was a far more agile swimmer than previously imagined. This shift from a bipedal "land-giant" to a river-dwelling predator has sparked intense debate in the scientific community regarding its posture and hunting style. Today, Spinosaurus aegyptiacus remains a symbol of paleontological mystery, reminding us that even the most established ideas about the "Age of Reptiles" can be reshaped by a single, groundbreaking discovery

Trix the T. rex is one of the most complete and best-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons ever found. Discovered in 2013 in Montana (USA), Trix is about 30 years old at the time of death, making her one of the oldest known T. rex specimens. She is around 12.5 meters long and shows signs of injuries and disease, revealing a tough life in the Late Cretaceous. Trix is now on display at @naturalismuseum Biodiversity Center in Leiden, the Netherlands, where she draws thousands of visitors and plays an important role in dinosaur research and education. Our Jersey Summer Road Trip continued with a weekend filled with exploration, community engagement, and inspiration. From learning about prehistoric life at soon-to-open Rowan University’s Edelman Fossil Park, to supporting the brave first responders at Runnemede Fire Department with $600k in federal funding, every moment has been a reminder of the incredible work happening across our state. In Plainfield, I was uplifted by the powerful message of love shared by Rev. Danielle Brown at Shiloh Baptist Church’s Block Party Service. And in Red Bank, I witnessed the compassion and dedication of those at Ritesh Shah Charitable Pharmacy and the Vin Gopal Civic Association Food Pantry, both working tirelessly to serve our communities. Each stop has left me even more inspired by the amazing people and places that make New Jersey so special.

Natural Tunnel has been attracting sightseers to the mountains of southwestern Virginia for more than 100 years. Natural Tunnel was naturally carved through a limestone ridge over thousands of years. The walls of the tunnel show evidence of prehistoric life. Many fossils can be found in the creek bed and on tunnel walls. Take a chairlift to the tunnel floor or if you don’t like heights you can hike down. The state park also offers camping, hiking, picnicking, and an on-site amphitheater. While you’re in the area, swing by the Wilderness Road Blockhouse and the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail Interpretive Center.

A fossil hunter split open a slab of limestone at a quarry in Wyoming — and inside was a 50-million-year-old Knightia fish fossil perfectly preserved in stone. The moment the rock cracked apart, the ancient fish appeared clearly etched in the slab, its delicate skeleton still intact as if it had been frozen in the middle of a swim millions of years ago. Knightia lived in the freshwater lakes of the Green River Formation during the Eocene epoch, a time when the region looked nothing like it does today. Over tens of millions of years, layers of sediment buried the fish and slowly turned to rock, preserving it as a natural record of prehistoric life — only to be revealed again with a single strike of a hammer after 50 million years.
