ERAs an actor, I show up as a team player to others while on set. It’s how I lead from wherever I’m standing.
Three things I would never do as an actor:
“Be unprofessional.” Always aim to be professional, on time, and respectful to everyone. Say thank you.
“Act like I’m acting.” I show up prepared to embody my characters, not pretend to be them. But also ready to respond ‘in the moment.’ Showing up ready to do my part is the best way to respect everyone else who has, hopefully, shown up to do their part.
“Give a line reading.” My job is to manage my performance alongside the director. I give space to my costars to do their thing and I have trust in the director to guide them where they see fit.
