Making your pull-ups feel easier: 🫵🏻 squeeze the bar through the outer side of your palm and little fingers as if you’re trying to *snap* or bend the bar in half over your head 😮‍💨 then drive your elbow down and back, not down and in front of the body. this will make sure you’re using your back to do the work rather than just pulling through your arms ☝🏼 think about pulling the bar to you (like a lat pull down) instead of hauling yourself up to the bar. Want to get your 1st Pull Up? Then try these beginner friendly strength progressions: 1) Barbell Assisted Pull Ups - Place a barbell at chest height, step your feet out in front of you keeping your knees bent. From here pull your body up towards the barbell, aiming to meet your chest with the bar. Slowly lower back down and repeat for 10-12 reps x 2-3 sets 2) Box Barbell Assisted Pull Ups - When the above becomes too easy, place a box underneath your heels and keep your legs out straight. Lift your chest and hips up and drive your chest towards the barbell. Aim for 8-10 reps x 2-4 sets 3) Hanging Hollow Body Rocks - Mastering the core strength that pull ups require can be hard so try this - take an overhand grip slightly wider than shoulder width, start by kipping your legs forward whilst aiming to push the bar away from your body. Think about driving your ribs to hips, keeping your arms & legs straight and core tight. Aim for 8-12 reps x 2-3 sets 4) Single Leg Dead hang - If the above is too hard then improving your strength to pull your entire body up and off the ground is essential. Firstly, allow yourself to hang from the bar keeping one leg on the ground or box. Hold the other leg up, this supports some of your bodyweight. Aim to hang for 10-30 seconds per leg x 2-3 sets 5) Dead hang - When single leg becomes too easy, move onto a complete dead hang lifting both legs off the ground.
