My name is Steve Fish and I am a professor of political science at UC Berkeley. I’ve spent my career studying democracy and how to defeat authoritarianism. ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 22, 2023ರಂದು ಮಹಿಳಾ ಮೀಸಲಾತಿ (ನಾರಿ ಶಕ್ತಿ) ವಿಧೇಯಕವನ್ನು ಲೋಕಸಭೆ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಜ್ಯಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರೀ ಬಹುಮತದಿಂದ ಪಾಸ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ಮೋದಿ ಸ್ವತಃ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯಿಂದ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ದಿನದ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಸಬಲೀಕರಣದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕನಸುಗಳನ್ನು ಮೂಡಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ನಿನ್ನೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಅದೇ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ನಾಟಕವಾಡುತ್ತಾ, ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ವಿಂಗಡಣೆ (Delimitation) ಬಿಲ್ ಅನ್ನು ಸದ್ದಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಪಾಸ್ ಮಾಡಲು ಯತ್ನಿಸಿರುವುದು ಗಂಭೀರ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಜನರ ಗಮನವನ್ನು ಬೇರೆಡೆ ತಿರುಗಿಸಿ, ನಿಜವಾದ ಅಜೆಂಡಾವನ್ನು ಮರೆಮಾಚುವ ಈ ಕ್ರಮವು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಬಿಲ್ ಮೂಲಕ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ದುರ್ಬಲಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಯೋಜನೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂಬ ಆತಂಕ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೇ ಶಿಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ರೀತಿಯ ನೀತಿ ಇದು ಎಂಬ ಟೀಕೆಗಳು ಕೇಳಿಬರುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸುವ ಬದಲು, ಕೆಲ ಗೋಧಿ ಮೀಡಿಯಾಗಳು ವಾಸ್ತವವನ್ನು ಮರೆಮಾಚುವ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವುದು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ವಿಷಾದನೀಯ. ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವ ಬದಲು ಅಪಪ್ರಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಳ್ಳಿಗೆ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಾಯಕರ. ಒಂದೊಂದೇ ಸುಳ್ಳುಗಳು ಬಹಿರಂಗವಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಜನರು ನಿಜವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ದೇಶದ ಜನತೆ ಜಾಗೃತರಾಗಿ ಎಚ್ಚೆತ್ತುಕೊಂಡರೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಹುನ್ನಾರವೂ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. #NariShaktiBill #WomenReservation #Delimitation #DelimitationBill #SaveDemocracy #SouthIndiaVoice #Gerrymandering #FairElections #ElectoralReform #StopGerrymandering #ModiHaiToMumkinHai
