MOWe finally checked out the brand new Astronomy Center at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center and it did not disappoint.
We went to the Stamford Skies planetarium show and my kid couldn’t stop saying “wow.”
These interactive, astronomer-led shows are perfect for families, and there are weekly laser light shows that are so much fun.
Between the full-dome planetarium shows and the rotating laser shows, this is a must-do family-friendly activity in Connecticut.
Save this for later or share it with a friend looking for things to do with kids in CT.

It was SO neat to view Jupiter & some of its moons! My friend Elise & I got there early & hung out in the parking lot. Sky was clear then & The Director Prisco Blanco came out to let us in early to view as the clouds were headed in soon. So neat to hear about the night sky & the observatory! Open to kids with their adults! I believe they said 8 people on the viewing platform at a time so there is a sitting area below to wait for your turn. Recommend dressing warm & going early! Also be sure to check your email as they may send weather updates & if still a go for your viewing. If they cancel due to weather they let you use your ticket as a voucher for another day if there are openings. Definitely worth going to check it out if you have never been! 🌙🪐💫🔭

Resharing some fun places around the Tri-Cities I don’t want anyone to miss out on! The CPCCo Planetarium at CBC has a 36-foot panoramic viewing dome with a top-of-the-line 4K projection system! With each showing you look up at the dome while they do a 20ish minute presentation of the night sky & then view your show on there as well!
𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨:
🪐 Lobby filled with space photos/info on the walls
🪐 Kids’ Table- FULL of Space toys, books, puzzles & building materials to explore
🪐 Presentation of the Night Sky on the Dome- 20ish min presentation & was super neat!
🪐”The Little Star That Could” was the showing we went to! It was about the Sun & our Solar System & it was super cute. It played out almost like a story book & was super engaging! Age recommendation is Pre-school- 2nd Grade & felt it is accurate! (Idk if our 4 year olds a year ago could sit for 50 min to an hour total. But there were younger kids in our showing too!)
𝙊𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙨 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣:
🌍 “Zula Patrol: Under the Weather” - Recommended age: Preschool-3rd Grade
(They have other new shows & some showings in Spanish- all recommended for general audiences- they said kids can get something out of each of them but may have parts over that go over their heads!)
𝙁𝙔𝙄𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙂𝙤:
🪐Purchase tickets in advance
🪐No late admissions so make sure you are early (we got there 15-20 min early & it was plenty of time to check in, use the restroom, check out the lobby quickly & find a seat! If want more time to check out the kids’ toys in the lobby allow more time)
🪐No food, drinks, phones during the presentation or show
🪐Can use the restroom if need to but recommended to go before as it gets pretty dark
🪐Middle or back seats seems like the best spots to sit
