MS🔬 Explain Week in the Science Lab
This week in the lab we are focusing on the Explain phase of the 5E learning model—the stage where students deepen their understanding and make sense of the science behind what we explored last week.
Throughout the week, students will:
• Watch short films connected to last week’s topics
• Complete vocabulary crosswords created from our previous lessons
• Participate in teacher-led note taking and discussions
• Work toward a lab activity that brings the concepts together
In honor of Women’s History Month, our daily warm-ups will highlight inspiring women in STEM. Today we began with the story of Hypatia, an ancient Egyptian mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher whose work helped shape early science and learning.
When time allows, the lab will also open for enrichment activities, including:

✏️ scientific illustration practice
🔍 observation stations
🧱 LEGO engineering builds
It’s going to be a week full of thinking, connecting ideas, and celebrating scientists who changed the world.
