ONLast year I noticed a new freckle under my foot and during my yearly exam, my dermatologist recommended doing a punch biopsy because it’s not common to randomly develop freckles under your foot.
Two weeks later, I received a phone call, confirming that it had atypical cells. Luckily, we did a punch biopsy and now he’ll monitor the area every year at my check up to see if anything comes back.
As someone who has a history of skin cancer in both sides of her family, I take my yearly check ups very seriously, and I never skip them because there is a higher likelihood my spots can turn cancerous.
Prevention is key when it comes to skin cancer.
Never brush it off or tell yourself it’s always been there .
At the bottom of my foot is the last place I ever thought I could develop skin cancer … thank God for my Derm.

PAI always get asked what to look for when it comes to skin cancer.
In the order I think there are based on the 15 biopsies I have had:
Potential melanoma ➡️ basal cell carcinoma ➡️ pre-cancerous
And here are the reasons why I am questioning them:
Spot 1. Has grown in size & has uneven edging on the one side
Spot 2. Was a mosquito bite from last June that has never fully healed. The was the exact same situation with my previous basal cell and leaves me with some weird questions/thoughts around the little pests. 🤷🏼♀️
Spot 3. A mark that has been there for a few years, almost like a little spot of dry skin.
Bottom line, if you are questioning anything - have it looked at thoroughly by a dermatologist!

ABBasal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common skin cancer.
It can mimic many benign skin lesions such as angifibromas, pimples, moles (aka nevi) or sebaceous hyperplasia.
Clues that it could be skin cancer include a new or growing spot that’s present for more than 8 weeks, bleeding or pain.
Get it checked out by a medical professional (ideally a
dermatologist) if you have any of these signs.
Follow if you want to protect yourself and loved ones from skin cancer

DRUne petite lésion qui ne guérit pas n’est jamais anodine.
Une bosse nacrée.

Quand il est détecté tôt :
✔ traitement simple

Quand il est diagnostiqué tard :
⚠ chirurgie plus lourde
⚠ parfois au niveau du visage
En dermatologie, le temps change tout.

I am 34, and have had 3 Moh’s surgeries to remove BCCA. A topical chemo was suggested to attack any cancerous skin we couldn’t see yet with our eyes…. attack it did! Everything red on my face was precancerous or cancerous skin cells—— is that not CRAZY!!??
🩺Please get a skin exam! You’re never too young, and skin cancer can manifest differently depending on the melanin in your skin.
