#TechTuesday - Swiss Semiconductor Future: FabLab Project Takes Shape 📈 🇨🇭 A consortium of ETH Zurich (@ethzurich), EMPA (@empa_materials_science), Swissmem, and other industry partners is planning to establish a national chip production and research center at the Innovation Park in Dübendorf (@innovationparkzurich). 🏭 The proposed Swiss Chip FabLab will have a 43,056 ft² (4,000 m²) cleanroom for developing and producing customized, high-end chips for applications such as robotics, self-driving vehicles, satellite communication, and quantum computing. 📈 By consolidating cleanrooms from ETH, EMPA, and industry into a single, state-of-the-art facility, the FabLab would reduce costs, increase machine utilization, and create a hub for cutting-edge semiconductor R&D. 🌍 With about 20 companies already expressing interest, the project aims to strengthen Switzerland’s semiconductor sector, accelerate innovation, and support emerging technologies like 6G, space electronics, and edge AI.
