TMJ Myofascial Work 😬➡️🙂 Jaw pain isn’t usually the joint — it’s the muscles around it. Chewing muscles, temples, and upper neck get overworked → the joint stops moving smoothly. Common signs: • clicking/popping • headaches • ear pressure or ringing • jaw fatigue • tight neck Treatment focuses on restoring muscle glide and normal motion: 👐 myofascial release (inside & outside jaw) 🎯 dry needling 🔧 IASTM 🦴 chiropractic adjustment Result = jaw opens easier, less tension, fewer headaches #TMJ #JawPain #DrKyleRoss

Jaw clenching, grinding your teeth at night, or that constant tension in your face that makes it hard to relax, chew, or open your mouth fully? A lot of people don’t realize how common TMJ issues are. Stress, posture, sleep habits, or even subtle misalignments can overload the jaw joint and the muscles around it like the masseter and temporalis. Over time this can lead to clicking, popping, headaches, ear pain, limited movement, and that tight, achy feeling that just keeps building. And most people don’t realize chiropractic care can help with this. It’s not just for backs. Our chiropractors use a few different approaches depending on what’s going on. This can include soft tissue work to release tight jaw and neck muscles, intraoral TMJ massage (gloved work inside the mouth) to reach deeper muscles that are hard to access, shockwave therapy to calm irritated tissue, and precise adjustments to improve how the jaw joint moves. Pairing this with an RMT session beforehand can make an even bigger difference. Massage helps relax the jaw, neck, and shoulder muscles first so the joint isn’t fighting against tension. That way the adjustment holds better and the results last longer. When you treat both the muscles and the joint together, people often notice less grinding, less tension, and a jaw that actually feels relaxed again. If your jaw has been bothering you, this is something we see and treat all the time at Revamp. Book your Chiro or Chiro + RMT combo through the link in bio or send us a DM.

And I am so glad you are here…….Let’s chat about what’s going on and how I can help ⬇️ If you’ve been told your jaw clicking, locking, or pain is “just TMJ” — and handed a mouth guard … ya might wanna keep reading. Mouth guards have their place. But for a lot of people, they’re managing a symptom without ever asking why it’s there in the first place. Here’s what makes TMJ genuinely interesting from a functional standpoint: Your jaw doesn’t operate in isolation. The trigeminal nerve — which controls both the sensation and motor function of your entire jaw — converges with the upper cervical spinal nerves (C1, C2, C3) at a neurological hub in your brainstem called the trigeminocervical nucleus. This means that dysfunction in your upper cervical spine isn’t just a neck problem. It directly influences how your jaw muscles fire, how the joint tracks, and how much tension the whole system is carrying. A misaligned atlas (C1) can create asymmetrical muscle tension across the jaw, alter bite mechanics, and set off a feedback loop of pain and dysfunction that no mouth guard is going to untangle. When someone comes in with TMJ, here’s what we’re actually evaluating: → Upper cervical spine alignment and motion (C1-C3 specifically) → Jaw joint mechanics — how it opens, closes, tracks laterally → Muscle tension patterns across the masseter, temporalis, and pterygoids → Head and neck posture (forward head posture alone significantly increases TMJ stress) → X-rays to see what’s structurally going on w/the cervical spine— not guessing This is a multifactorial problem that deserves a multifactorial approach. And when the upper cervical spine is addressed properly, jaw symptoms often improve dramatically — sometimes without ever directly treating the jaw. Sometimes we can even bring SoftWave therapy into the picture! Of course, this can be a multifaceted issue … with even other factors involved. If this is something you or someone you know has been dealing with, let’s actually figure out what’s going on. Most people with jaw pain are told to: Take pills. Wear a night guard. Ice it. Or consider surgery. But what if the issue isn’t just inflammation… What if it’s joint mechanics? This weekend with Dr. Strat Poulson, we dove deep into the temporomandibular joint learning how to properly assess mandibular tracking, evaluate joint motion, identify deviations, and most importantly, how to specifically adjust the TMJ with precision. Yes!!! adjust it. The TMJ is a real joint. It hinges. It glides. It adapts. And when proper motion is lost, symptoms follow. Very few professions focus on restoring natural motion to the jaw without drugs or invasive procedures. Chiropractic does. Through: • Specific assessment • Precise adjustment • Targeted rehabilitation We’re not masking symptoms, we’re restoring function. The jaw connects to the cervical spine, the trigeminal nerve, posture, breathing patterns, and global tension. This goes deeper than most people realize. #TMJ #Chiropractic #JawPain #apexseminar #LifeUniversity

Jaw pain, neck stiffness, and headaches are more connected than you think. Your jaw (TMJ), neck, and upper back all work together. When one area is tight or not moving well, it can create tension that spreads—leading to headaches, clicking in the jaw, or constant neck stiffness. At Best Life Chiropractic, we look at the full picture—not just where it hurts. By improving movement in the neck and jaw and reducing muscle tension, we help your body function the way it’s designed to. Don’t ignore the signs—your body is telling you something. #tmj #tmjtreatment

TMJ isn't just a jaw issue—it's directly linked to your neck (& thus the rest of your spine) as well as nervous system state. If you've been: ✔️Wearing a night guard ✔️Avoiding certain foods ✔️Constantly massaging your jaw ✔️Constantly trying to "relax" your face ...and yet ➡️The tension keeps coming back ➡️You still wake up sore ➡️The clicking never goes away First of all: You're not doing anything wrong. These are all very common instances when it comes to TMJ. 🔥The problem is that most approaches are only focusing on WHERE the pain is (the jaw alone), not WHY (the root cause) it keeps happening. Through the lens of chiropractic, your jaw is directly connected to your neck, the surrounding muscles & your nervous system function as a whole. You can treat the jaw all day, but if there is a misalignment in your neck (or other areas of the spine) that's causing constant muscle strain & a jaw off balance--the pain and tension will remain. You can treat the jaw all day, but if your nervous system is in a consistent state of stress, fight/flight & protection mode--your muscles will remain tight no matter what, keeping your jaw locked. As holistic chiropractors, we take a whole-body approach. In an assessment we'll look closely at: ✅Your upper neck ✅Your whole spine's alignment and mobility ✅How your nervous system is regulating tension ✅The surrounding muscles influencing your jaw If you've been dealing with TMJ and nothing seems to fully work... here's your sign to try a different approach. Comment or DM "TMJ" or book a visit to start getting some answers. #Stpetechiropractor #holisticchiro #stpetewellness #stpetelocal #pinellascounty Do you struggle with TMJ?👇
