TIBUILDING OUT MY BOLEX EBM
this is easily one of my favorite 16mm film cameras that i currently own and even though its oddly shaped it isn’t that hard to build out and “modernize”

MILoading 16mm never really feels routine to me. Even after doing it many times, there’s always this quiet focus before the first frame is exposed.
The video is dark on purpose. You can load the spools in light, but it should be dim enough to avoid exposing the film. With analog, small details matter.
Winding the camera, threading the film, setting the loops correctly and making sure the take-up spool runs smoothly before closing the body forces you to slow down. There’s no instant playback, no safety net.
That’s part of why I still love shooting on film.

After years of sketches, prototypes, machining, and more than a few late-night conversations about how this camera should exist, two WideluxX prototypes finally arrived on our doorstep.
This video captures the moment we opened the box for the first time.
Inside were Prototype 001 and Prototype 002, the first fully assembled cameras that represent what WideluxX has been building toward: a modern panoramic film camera designed with the spirit of the classic swing-lens cameras, but engineered for photographers today.
Jeff and Sue seeing them in person for the first time was surreal. A project that has lived mostly in CAD files, machining drawings, and discussions about tolerances suddenly became something you can actually hold in your hands.
