It stops you in your tracks. That is why Shayla is demonstrating how to apply KT Tape for ankle pain caused by a sprain or roll. Proper taping helps reduce swelling and provides crucial support to ligaments that have been overstretched. KT Tape for ankle sprains provides support and stability, particularly in the first 1-2 weeks following injury, by limiting excessive motion without full immobilization. Collapsing arch or inner ankle pain? This taping technique can help. Taping for Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD) uses kinesiology tape (K-tape) or sports tape to lift the arch and support the inner ankle, helping reduce strain on the posterior tibial tendon and supporting the arch. How to apply it: 1️⃣ Start the tape at the bottom of your heel 2️⃣ Add tension and pull toward the inside of the ankle 3️⃣ Finish above the ankle 4️⃣ Repeat the same strip to reinforce support (layer over the first) 5️⃣ Add a final anchor above the ankle to lock it in Why it works: • Provides external arch support • Decreases stress on the tendon • Can improve comfort with walking and activity Best used with: • Supportive footwear • Strengthening exercises • Orthotics when needed Not a permanent fix—but a great adjunct to your treatment plan. 👇 Have you tried taping before? #taping #ankletaping #footpain #anklepain #doctor

Tape Supports, Rehab Restores Lateral ankle taping is commonly used in return-to-play settings following a lateral ankle sprain, particularly where the ATFL and surrounding lateral ligaments have been stressed. In sport, the goal isn’t to “fix” the ankle with tape, it’s to provide temporary support while the athlete rebuilds strength, load tolerance and confidence. Mechanically, ankle taping may help limit excessive inversion and reduce end-range stress on healing lateral ankle ligaments during cutting, landing and rapid change-of-direction movements. It also increases cutaneous feedback around the joint, which can enhance proprioception and joint awareness, factors often affected after an ankle sprain. The common mistake? Using tape as a long-term solution. Sustainable ankle stability typically comes from progressive rehab, including peroneal strengthening, single-leg balance drills, plyometrics, graded exposure to sport-specific loads, and structured return-to-play progressions. Taping is best viewed as a short-term adjunct within a broader rehabilitation plan. Individual presentations vary, and ongoing pain, swelling or instability should be assessed to guide safe progression back to sport.
