REThe Atari 2600 version of Pac-Man (1982) was one of the most infamous ports in gaming history — rushed to release, it featured flickering ghosts, simplified mazes, and poor sound compared to the arcade classic. Despite selling millions, it disappointed fans and became a symbol of the early ’80s video game crash.
The Atari 7800 version (1987) redeemed the series on home consoles — featuring graphics, colors, and sounds much closer to the original arcade version. It was faster, smoother, and finally delivered the authentic Pac-Man feel that players had wanted all along.

REThe Atari 2600+ is a nostalgic trip back to the 80's and I've had so much fun reliving all the classics! The modern updates together with old skool functionality and compatibility make it the ultimate console for retro enthusiasts ☺️
The console itself is lightweight and is scaled at 80% of the original 2600 size. Joystick and paddle sizes remain the same, as do the cable lengths. Overall apart from the slight size reduction of the console, it looks and feels very much like a console of the 80s.
The new joysticks are a pleasure to use. They don't feel as stiff as my originals but still retain that tight springy feel, so you shouldn't be getting "joystick wrist" anytime soon 😅
The Select, Reset and Difficulty switches function the same as the OG console, as do the dip switches, so be prepared to teach your kids something fun and new. They won't know what hit them!
There is a widescreen mode but I'm never one for stretching an original image, so preferred playing it in 4:3 with black bars down either side. I also opted for a colour picture however if you really want to ride that nostalgia train you can flick it over to black and white 📺
Something to note when purchasing for a present, it doesn't come with a power adapter. A USB-A to USB-C cable is supplied but you will require a 5V 1A power supply.
The Atari 2600+ releases worldwide on November 17th. Will you be picking one up for yourself or as a Christmas present?

ILClássico absoluto do Atari, River Raid se tornou um jogo inesquecível. Nele, pilotávamos um caça a jato e tínhamos que destruir pontes, afundar navios, derrubar helicópteros, interceptar jatos inimigos e ainda tomar cuidado para o combustível não chegar ao fim, o que significava cair no rio e perder uma vida.
