ARBinishells are innovative reinforced concrete thin-shell structures invented in the 1960s by Italian architect Dante Bini. These dome-shaped buildings are created by inflating a membrane to lift and shape wet concrete into a monolithic shell, allowing for fast, cost-effective construction. The first Binishell, built in 1965, had a 12-meter diameter and was formed using air pressure. Originally circular and requiring sophisticated equipment, Binishells have been used for various purposes, including schools, housing, and sports arenas. Nicoló Bini, Dante's son, has updated the technology, improving architectural flexibility, sustainability, and compliance with modern building codes.
