Ugly performance? 😯 Draw calls are the most common silent performance killers, you can’t imagine how frequent it is for me to find someone who doesn’t even know they exist, teaching Unreal Engine. Every draw call is a task the CPU sends to the GPU to render something. Like a mesh, a material or a texture. Too many of them, and your GPU might be chilling, while your CPU is dying creating this infinite task list every frame. Usually they should be around 1500-2000 for PC and 500-800 for mobile, but essentially the lesser the better. That’s why designing placement tools, like splines, you need design them to avoid that the game accidentally breaks. Optimizing draw calls isn’t about visuals. It’s about making your game scalable, stable, and future-proof. #gamedev #unrealengine #indiedev #devlog #devdiary
