🌴 Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest is a platform game developed by Rare. The game is considered the sixth best-selling title of the SNES.
🦖 This game was released two days in North America, and a day in Japan, before Toy Story was released in theaters.
🪦 There are unused sprites of Diddy and Dixie Kong mourning. These sprites would have been used during the final boss fight against Kaptain K. Rool.
🎹 According to the game’s composer, David Wise, an attempt was made to make the SNES emulate the sounds heard on the Roland CR78 used by Phil Collins for the song “In the Air Tonight”. Most notably, the beginning of “Bayou Boogie” sounds strikingly similar to the beginning of “In the Air Tonight”.

SKHere’s a quick vid of me swapping the shell on the SP from my last post. As you can see, the original gameboy was in pretty rough shape but was still functional. That just tells me that it was loved! I’m sure that if I can ever find mine, it’d be in a similar condition.
I don’t want to say this console is old, just because this was what I grew up with, but I love working with older consoles because they are just so much easier to get around. Swapping out shells on a joycon is much more complicated than this, and don’t even get me started on working with a 3DS. I attempted to fix the upper screen of one ONCE. And we don’t talk about that. There’s totally not a graveyard of 3DS parts stuffed in one of my drawers.
For this mod, I replaced the shell, buttons, screen, and speaker. When I bought the gameboy, it was listed as having issues with sounds, which I did not notice, but since I had preemptively purchased a new speaker I just swapped it in anyway. There really isn’t much to adding in a new speaker since you just have to swap the part out. For the screen replacement, I decided to go for the Hispeedido V5 drop in kit because literally all you have to do is drop it in! You can solder it in, but if you don’t, you can just press on the lower portion of the screen to adjust brightness levels.
I’ve been checking out my old games to see the progress and all that I had on them. I’m guessing I transferred most of my Pokemon from my original FireRed playthough to my original Pearl playthrough because I only had like 15 pokemon on that save file 😂 I’m thinking of doing a quick runthrough DKC 2 this weekend! What are you guys plans?
