This might seem like common sense but as someone who has social anxiety (+ being in public spaces in general), designating what I call “safe zones” is crucial. I just pick 3-4 ish areas of the gym that I can sort of rotate through to go over my plan and check out what equipment is currently available if it’s busy. The first 2 are always areas where I can do a dumbbell workout if needed (gyms can get busy depending on what time you go). Or I just rotate between the bathroom and lobby area if I’m eyeing a certain machine/rack and am willing to wait. It’s just easier for me and less awkward than sort of standing around someone in the middle of their sets. Hope this helps!! Should I do more of these?? What questions do you have??
