It’s not always about how much strength you have; it’s about where you apply it! In this video, we’re looking at two different ways to move a heavy safe. F_1 (The Puller): Using a rope at an angle from above. F_2 (The Pusher): Applying direct force from the ground. The Science: Effectiveness in this scenario is all about the moment arm. The further you are from the pivot point (the bottom corner of the safe) and the more perpendicular your force is to that lever arm, the less force you actually need to exert! In F_1, the angle of the rope actually helps "lift" some of the weight while rotating it, whereas F_2 requires fighting against gravity and friction much more directly. Which one would you choose?
