Shifting BPM isn’t just about sliding a tempo fader. If you jump too fast, the crowd feels it instantly. The energy disconnects. Great DJs understand that tempo changes need to feel natural, not forced.
One method is gradual progression. Moving up or down 2–3 BPM at a time across multiple tracks so the crowd doesn’t consciously notice the shift. Another is using breakdowns, acapellas, or transition edits where drums drop out, making tempo changes less obvious.
The key is control. A smooth BPM shift keeps momentum alive while steering the energy exactly where you want it. When done right, the crowd never thinks about tempo. They just feel the flow.

SWViper Kitten fader — round two.
Last night we swapped the stock fader in the Pioneer DJM-S11 for the VK again, and I’m blown away. I’m exploring more and fighting the mixer less, thats the real difference.
The S11 has a solid fader. No question. But I was constantly adjusting tension, and it took me way too long to get comfortable with the fader cap width.
The VK just feels right. No constant tweaking. No adaptation period.
