Conversely, he explains that falling in love involves “deleting” a person’s flaws and “generalizing” their virtues. He concludes by emphasizing that we have the power to assign meaning to any event. He uses the example of a relationship crisis, asking the audience to decide if it is “the end” or “the beginning.” He argues that the meaning we choose determines our emotional state and our actions, urging the audience to take conscious control of their perception.
