LUMore experiments on realtime visual correlations for the data calculated with my models. I recorded lots of nightingales in the past few years so I have a big audio pool to test with.
I figured out that in the Spread-Centroid-Entropy space (lower graph) the faster trills and rattles get into tight clusters, while slower modulations-buzzes shape 3d paths and clouds in space. So I figured that calculating the mean distance of the points and combining it with amplitude modulation could be a way to try classify the different features of the vocalize on the fly. It's far from perfect and I'm no ornithologist, but it can have some accuracy.
I'm sure real researchers would be able to modulate all this data in much more efficient ways!

FEDetails from “Shapes of Inequality”, my installation designed for @triennalemilano’s 24th International Exhibition “Inequalities” - on view until November 9.
I designed more than ten large data visualization to depict different shapes of inequalities, from economic disparities to global warming, from social mobility and discriminations related to ethnicity and gender, to biodiversity and biocommunity.
The exhibition design is by Midori Hasuike (@midori_hasuike), editing by Veronica Vannini (@vev425).

LUThis beautiful singing blackbird is analyzed in three different 3d graphs, two of which I already employed in the previous reel plus a more direct centroid-amplitude one, with the interesting add of spectral slope values as color.
These graphs utilize 8 of the 14 overall values extracted in realtime from the audio. Much more to come soon.
