It allows functions to operate on and modify variables defined outside their local scope. In this example : 'apple_count' is a global variable representing the total number of apples. The function buy_apple increments the global variable apple_count each time an apple is purchased. After buying apples, we print the total. The function check_apples creates a local variable local_apple_count as a copy of the global apple_count. and it adds one to the local variable. Follow for more !
