MEIris shadow is used to diagnose the maturity of cataract. Immature cataract shows the iris shadow whereas the mature and hypermature cataract do not show iris shadow. This alongside the colour of lens and visual acuity help us determine the maturity of cataract.

Warnanya ditentukan oleh jumlah pigmen melanin, sama seperti kulit. Semakin sedikit melanin, iris tampak biru. Semakin banyak melanin, iris tampak cokelat atau hitam.
Yang membuat takjub, pola serat dan lipatan kecil di iris terbentuk sejak kita masih janin dalam kandungan. Setelah lahir, pola itu menetap seumur hidup, tidak berubah.
Inilah sebabnya teknologi modern menggunakan iris sebagai identifikasi biometrik, jauh lebih aman daripada password.
Jadi, saat kamu menatap mata seseorang, sadarilah bahwa kamu sedang melihat sebuah karya seni biologis yang tidak ada dua.
