“your LinkedIn post is a solo act — the applause you seek often ends up being the sound of your own two hands.” - Paulo Coelho, as written in The Alchemist we post on LinkedIn as an act of self-affirmation - not so much for the world, but for ourselves. it’s our own little ‘look, I did it!’ moment - as we scroll through the liкes, it’s less about the count and more about the familiar names popping up. the human desire to be seen, heard and valued turned LinkedIn into a public diary of affirmations and success stories. but if we put our audience first and consider the value each post adds to their day, LinkedIn could…evolve ✨ but who is that audience and what are the types of people on LinkedIn? these are my initial thoughts: MARKETING PROFESSIONALS: they need LinkedIn to not only showcase their achievements but to lurk around what the competitors are doing and what agencies they use to outsource their work etc.☺️ RECRUITERS: the true celebrities of LinkedIn! with a single post, they can ignite a thunder of comments and connection requests - their inboxes are likе mythical treasure chests, everyone wants in JOURNALISTS: not as intensely as on twitter, but any platform that lets them get new info and insights not available elsewhere is a go. we’re talking tech, creator economy, media and entertainment - not always the journalists you see on TV. ENTREPRENEURS: every day is a pitch day - they’re here to remind us that they’re changing the world, one small business transaction at a time. HIGHER EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS: not entirely sure why this group uses linkedin but they really do? because students nor academia do not. their posts usually garner a modest fanfare of 5-15 likes - a niche but loyal audience… FINANCE PROFESSIONALS: you won’t often find them writing posts or commenting, but they’re always there - quietly perusing, scanning the landscape for new roles, keeping an eye on industry and occasionally stalking colleagues RAN OUT OF CAPTION SPACE😭 I was going to put “tech people” but they are marketing people tbh 😅 anyway now u know ur audience☺️ if you think I missed any please comment below love you bye💕 #recruiter #linkedin #jobs #comedy

I am calling them ‘talented individuals’ so that they engage with the post, which will push it to their audience and increase my engagements 🥰 “honored to receive the [insert award name].” - turns out, they give awards for just about anything these days! next up: world’s biggest coffee drinker 💃 “excited to join an incredible team!” - I know absolutely nothing about my new colleagues, but I needed a job, and they were hiring. fingers crossed they’re not too weird 🤞 “grateful for the incredible mentorship.” - finally found someone who tolerated my questions and occasional incompetence. I owe them big time 🥰 “thank you for your thoughtful comment on my post” - your comment was completely irrelevant, and now I have to acknowledge it diplomatically. win-win though because my response will boost the post on the feed so thanks 🙌 BONUS BONUS for those who get to the end: “excited to announce that I have resigned from my current role. as the chapter of my previous role gracefully closes, another one unfolds. stay tuned for what’s coming” - my role was made redundant and I’m frantically applying for roles so that people think I changed roles 😭 let’s stay strategic, and always look out for the complexities of human interactions hehe 🥰 P.S. light it up is such a 2016 vibe why do they not make music like this anymore?
